Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until combined and shape into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; cook meatballs until browned and cooked through (7–8 minutes). Set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions until golden. Stir in flour and cook for one minute before gradually whisking in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard; simmer until thickened.
  4. Return meatballs to the skillet to coat them in gravy; simmer for another five minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, boil cubed potatoes until tender; mash with butter, milk, sour cream (optional), salt, and pepper until smooth.
  6. Serve mashed potatoes topped with meatballs and gravy.
