  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 1/4 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced sausage and brown on both sides (2–3 minutes each). Remove and set aside.
  3. Lower heat to medium, add rinsed rice, and toast for 1–2 minutes until slightly translucent.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add chicken broth, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce; mix well.
  6. Return browned sausage to the pan, nestling it into the rice mixture.
  7. Bring to a simmer, cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender.
  8. Remove from heat and let rest covered for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
